If you are looking for 22 inch depth toilets or 23 inch depth toilets for a small bathroom there only four 22 and 23 inch toilet models for sale in the United States today. In this post I have listed, compared and discussed about all these 22 and 23 inch toilets. Note, these are also the shortest depth toilets for sale in the market today.
Here are those 22, 23 inch long toilets.
- 22.75 inch WinZo WZ5079 Shortest One Piece Toilet
- 23 inch WinZo WZ5079N Small Compact Toilet
- 23.6 inch DeerValley DV-1F52807 One Piece Toilet
22 & 23 Inch Toilets Comparison
Here is a comparison table of all the 22 & 23 inch toilet models with their key features. I have also included couple of the best selling 24-25 inch depth toilets in this chart so that you can compare how these 22/23 inch models fare against slightly larger and more popular toilets.
I have discussed more about each of these toilets below.
All these four toilet models are from some new brands. However today you are fortunate to have these 22″, 23″ toilets to choose from. That’s because couple of years ago, when I first wrote my previous post about 24 & 25 inch depth toilets there weren’t any 22 or 23″ toilets for sale in the US.
The top three US toilet brands like Kohler, American Standard and Toto don’t offer any under 25 inch depth toilets anymore. That’s mainly due to more stringent building codes and better standard of living, most houses have larger bathrooms. So only a small percentage of older households or someone with a space constraint issue need a under 25 inch small toilet.
A common trait of all 22, 23 inch toilets are that they are all one-piece toilets. They also have a skirted or semi skirted design so that you don’t see the entrails and the S-Bend of the bowl. So they look nicer and easy to clean.
22 Inch Depth Toilets (Smallest Depth Toilets)
There is no toilet currently in the US market shorter than 22 inches. If you want a toilet shorter 22 inches in depth then I’m afraid your only choice will be to go for either a Japanese style electric tankless toilet or a macerating toilet.
22.75″ WinZo WZ5079 Toilet
The only toilet model currently for sale in the 22 inch depth range is the 22 3/4-inch WinZo WZ5079 Compact Shortest One Piece Toilet Dual Flush Water Closet (Amazon.com link #Ad). So this WinZo toilet currently holds the title for the smallest toilet for sale in the United States.
This toilet measures just 22.75 inches in length, 15 inches in depth and 29 inches in height. I thought toilets in UK were small but at 22.75″ inches length this one is shorter than even the shortest short projection toilet in UK. So its a truly compact, space saving toilet, great for tiny bathrooms.
However this 22″ WinZo toilet model is available on Amazon.com since May 2020. So being a newly released toilet from a new toilet brand we have limited feedback and customer reviews online to judge how this toilet quality is and how well it’ll perform in the long run. From the little background check I did about WinZo toilets, it they are made in China and marketed online through Amazon, Ebay by a Chinese based retailer named WinZo Bathroom or Bathroomware. To WinZo’s credit they have a bunch of other toilet models and bathroom sinks for sale online with the few online reviews they have got so far being good.
Short 23 Inch Depth Toilets
If a 23 inch depth toilet is okay for your requirements, then you have 3 choices. Lets have a look at each of these toilet models next.
23″ Carus Toilet
23-inch long Carus toilet (Temporarily Unavailable) was the first 23 inch or lower depth toilet to be introduced into the market. Before it became available, the shortest depth toilet in the market was the 24 inch Swiss Madison toilet which I have listed on the comparison table above.
Talking about Carus toilet its sold by a reputable US based company named Luxury Modern Homes. They are a reputable small toilet marketing company with a good track record of after sales customer service. They were the company to first market a under 25 inch toilet in the US a decade back with their 24.5″ inch depth Galba small toilet. So Out of all the 22″, 23″ long toilets I’d pick the Carus as the most recommendable choice even though its more expensive than the other models listed here.
23″ WinZo WZ5079N Small Compact Toilet
Next 23 inch model is the the WinZo WZ5079N 23″ Small Compact One Piece Toilet (check at Amazon #Ad). This is another super compact toilet sold by the same company who brings us the 22.75 WinZo smallest toilet we discussed above. Size wise its 23″ long, 14.55″ wide and 28.75″ tall.
It was first available for sale from around June, 2020. When I check online reviews its so far got quite a number of good reviews and ratings.
23.6″ DeerValley DV-1F52807 One Piece Toilet
23.6 inch DeerValley DV-1F52807 (Amazon page link #Ad) is another new tiny toilet in the US market. Its slightly longer than the other three toilets above but still measures just 23.6 in length. Its width is 15.7 and height is 26 inches. It’s also the only non-dual-flush toilet among the 22″-23″ toilet models.
This 23.6″ DeerValley is available for sale since July 2020. Online reviews so far are good but like others here, we’ll have to see how it does in the long run.
Note: Most of these small toilets are sold with the toilet seat and lid. (Current trend with normal standard size toilets is they are sold without the seat, requiring you to buy the toilet seat separately.) Coming with their own toilet seat is easy but the problem lies if the toilet seat is a special size. Then it can be difficult to find and replace a seat when you need a new one. So before buying check with the toilet seller about the seat replacement and internal part replacement ability in future. Most small toilet brands have their own toilet seats for sale separately on places like Amazon.
Compact 24-Inch Depth Toilets
If a 24 or 25 inch depth toilet will suit your needs, then you are almost spoilt for choice today. A few years back you would have been hard pressed to find even a 25 inch depth toilet. But today you are almost spoilt for choices with regards to 24 and 25 inch depth toilets. For more details about toilets in this depth or length range, check out my post on 24 & 25 inch depth range toilets here.
Small 25-Inch Depth Toilets
When I first wrote the 24 and 25 inch toilet post back in 2018, I found only 3 toilets in the 24-25 inch depth range. There was the 24.5 inch Galba toilet, 25 inch Horow Small Toilet and the 25.8 inch Kohler San Souci Round Bowl Toilet. Then there was the 25.8 inch long American Standard Colony which could be got as a 10 inch rough in or 12 inch rough in model.
But today there are nearly 10 toilet models with a depth of less than 24/25 inch long toilets for sale. There are today even a handful of 22 to 23 inch toilet models we discussed here that I decided to make this separate new post about them. As the smallest toilets you can buy, these 22 inch toilets will take the lease amount of floor space and create the most leg room for your bathroom.
(Note: If you are looking for 22/23 inch seat height toilets please check my tallest toilets post here. For short 22″-23″ low height toilets see my 21″-26″ low profile toilet post.)
Aksam, thank you for the information but I need an ADA California approved toilet that is 26-27 inches depth.
Hi Debbie,
Then for ADA compliance, you need a toilet with a 17 to 19 inch seat height. And to installed in California, you need a high-efficiency toilet with a water consumption rate of 1.28 GPF or lower. Here’s a good reliable toilet model that meets these standards.
* TOTO CST243EF#01 Entrada Two-Piece Round Toilet, has a toilet depth of 26.6 inches, seat height of 17-1/4 inches and a flush rate of 1.28 GPF. Here is the link to its specification sheet document and the link to its Amazon sale page #ad)
Hi! We have a 10″ rough in and need the smallest possible toilet to meet code (21″ in front of the toilet in Iowa). Any help?
Recently, I came across a new toilet called the Fine Fixtures Toilet 10″ Rough In which was only 25 inches in length. It was for sale on this Amazon page #ad but I can’t find it now.
So currently, the smallest 10 inch rough in toilet are round bowl models from American Standard that are around 26 inches in length/depth. Here are those models;
* 25.8″ depth, American Standard 221DB104.020 Colony 1.28 GPF 2-Piece Round Front Toilet with 10-In Rough-In (Amazon page link #ad)
* 26.19″ length, American Standard 204BB104.020 Edgemere Right Height Round Front 10-Inch Rough-In Toilet (Amazon link #ad)
* 26.25″ depth, American Standard 270BB001.020 Cadet 3 Right Height Round Front Two-Piece Toilet with 10-Inch Rough-In (Amazon page link #ad)
All three of these American Standard round toilets have been around for a while. Lot of people buy them for small baths. So if you have space, it’s better to go for one of these models than from a new small toilet brand.
Hi! Will any of the 22-24″ depth toilets work with commonly available electronic seat top bidets, such as the Bio Bidet or similar products? I’m looking to save space in a tiny bathroom but would also like to use a bidet seat.
Hi Allen,
Bidets seem to pose a problem with these smallest toilets. I searched and found recommendations for only the 24.5 inch depth Galba toilet. In this question page on Amazon #ad, the Galba toilet seller suggests the below 2 bidets.
1) Brondell Swash 900 Bidet for GALBA Toilet (have 1-2″ overhang at front)
2) Brondell Swash 1400 Bidet for GALBA Toilet (Amazon page link #ad)
Moreover, a reply to another question on Amazon Galba page #ad, where a customer says the Toto C200 Round bidet and the manual KOHLER Puretide Round bidet fits perfectly, but both of them reduce the hole size.
I also came across this customer review and photo on Amazon #ad of a manual bidet attachment (not the electronic bidets) installed on a Carus 23 inch toilet. However, there’s no mention of the bidet model and the reviewer says it was difficult to install it.
On Galba, the 2 bolt holes that secure the toilet seat are 5.75″ apart. As long as the bidet seat has the same bolt distance, you might be able to find a good match for Galba. (Or if a bidet’s bolt distance is adjustable, like a bidet with a 5.5″ distance and a tolerance of plus/minus 1/4″).
On the 23″ Carus, the bolt holes are 5.75 inches apart but I couldn’t find any information about the clearance between the bolt holes and the tank. Most electric bidet seats are thick and the minimum clearance between the holes and the tank needs to be around 1.5-inch. The clearance gap on the Carus toilet looks narrower than 1.5″ from the photo of the toilet bowl on Amazon Carus page #ad.
As it looks difficult to find a bidet seat for 22″, 23″ toilets, try a bidet attachment instead of a bidet seat. The bidet attachment, attaches under the toilet seat. ( check Bidet Attachments on Amazon #ad)
