In the last week or two, I spent many hours looking for short projection toilets in the UK. I found many 600mm short projection toilet models and even toilets shorter than 600mm. All looked more or less the same with similar ratings and reviews online. To make it easy to choose between them, I made this post with details and comparison of the shortest, short Projection Toilet in UK. (For a list of short projection toilets in the US check my 24-25 inch toilet post here)
So without much ado, here are the shortest depth toilets I could find for sale in the UK.
Small Short Projection Toilets in UK Comparison Table
The normal standard toilet depth in the UK is between 650mm to 750mm (65-75cm). So, any toilet
with a depth of less than 650mm (65cm) is considered as a “short projection toilet”. In that sense, all the toilet models listed here are much shorter the 650mm which is like the standard size for short projecting toilets.
Out of the above toilets, the most popular and bestselling is the 600mm RAK Series 600 White Close Coupled WC Modern Toilet with Soft Close Seat (check it on Amazon.co.uk #Ad). It has got a compact, sleek design, good flushing performance and good online ratings. Customer reviews on Amazon.co.uk and other sites praise and recommend it highly. All in all, after checking all the small toilets listed here and more, my choice for best short projection toilet goes to this RAK Series 600 toilet.
The next most popular and bestselling toilet is the 600 Compact Bathroom/Cloakroom Short Projection Close Coupled Space Saver Square Toilet Pan WC sold by E-Plump (Amazon.co.uk link #Ad). In looks, shape and dimensions it looked identical to the above RAK Series 600. So I checked and found this reply on Amazon.co.uk by the seller E-plumb shop, confirming this is also a a RAK 600 toilet.
600mm Short projection Toilets
Depth of 600mm is where the battlefield for short toilets gets crowded. I found a total of 5 toilets from 4 companies with a 600mm depth for sale. You are really spoilt for choice. So, lets have a little more in-depth look at the 600 mm toilets.
First is the 600mm RAK Series 600 toilet which I recommended above as the best of the lot. This toilet has a depth of 600mm, width of 350mm and height of 775mm.
The RAK Series 600 toilet is sold by RAK Ceramics, one of the largest ceramics brands in the world. The toilet is compact, stylish and comes at a reasonable price. Like many listed here it’s also a dual flush toilet, which means it allows you to save more water with the full flush for sold waste and the half flush available for flushing away the liquid waste. This 600mm model is available for sale since 2015.
The 605mm depth Cesar Rimless Toilet is a fully shrouded toilet (or skirted toilet as they call them in the US). The bowl shape and entrails of the toilet is hidden with a shroud or skirt design around the toilet and it sits flush (pardon the pun) against your wall. This look gives the Cesar toilet a neat and tidy appearance. It also makes it easier to clean, with no awkward nooks and crannies where dirt and dust can accumulate, making for a more hygienic choice.
Short Projection Toilet Under 600mm
When it comes to short projection toilet depth, 600mm looks like the benchmark size. But would you like a short projection toilet under 600mm? I sure you would if you can get a good one. I did come across couple of them but unfortunately they are currently unavailable or out of stock for the moment. If you are curious about them, here they are.
The shortest toilet I came across was the 585mm Premier Ambrose Short Projection toilet (check its Amazon.co.uk page #Ad)
The 2nd under 600mm shortest depth toilet I found was the 595mm VeeBath Luxor Toilet (link to its Amazon.co.uk page#Ad).
Short Projection Toilet Traits and Concerns
Naturally if you have a small bathroom or cloakroom every inch counts. And you want to install the smallest short projection toilet you can find and maximise the available room. At the same time, its important to make sure it is a good, comfortable toilet that flushes well too.
Also make sure you understand that there can be some drawbacks with installing a short projection toilet. As these are short toilets and they may not suit some tall and large users. Generally a toilets with a projection of between 650mm and 800mm are more comfortable for most tall and large adults.
However, short projection toilets try to give users the same level of comfort and seat space as larger toilets by designing slimmer cisterns (tanks). The slimline design of these short toilet cisterns can now be as narrow as 150mm and still provide an excellent flush.
Remember, even though these are called small toilets, they are still one big chuck of porcelain stone. They are fragile and easily weigh about 30-40 kg. Don’t do the handling and checking alone if you can’t handle the weight. Get a helper with strong arms and some padding material.
Sometimes even the shortest projection toilet might be too large for your needs. If the above mentioned short projection water closets are not short enough for your needs you might like to consider a short back to wall toilet or a short wall hung toilet. So lets have a look at them next.
Short Projection Back to Wall Toilet
If you are interest in a Short Projection Back to Wall Toilet the most popular options are as follows. The shortest I could find so far is a 460mm short projection back to wall toilet.
* 460mm depth Tavistock Q60 460 Compact Mini Square Back to Wall Toilet Pan WC (Amazon.co.uk link #Ad)
* 485mm depth iBathUK Short Projection Back To Wall Toilet Bathroom Cloakroom WC (Amazon.co.uk link #Ad)
* 490mm depth RAK Series 600 Square Back to Wall Toilet WC Short Projection Soft Close Seat (Amazon.co.uk link #Ad)
Short Projection Wall Hung Toilet
Short wall hung toilets are another alternative to the normal short projection close coupled toilet we discussed so far. So while looking at short depth toilets I also had a look at short projection wall hung toilets.
If you are interested in one of these, you should checkout these below shortest wall hung toilets I found.
* 480mm depth Royal Bathrooms Short Projection Wall Hung Pan Rimless Toilet (Amazon.co.uk link #Ad)
* 483mm depth Durovin Bathrooms Ceramic Open Flush Rim Wall Hung Toilet (check on Amazon.co.uk #Ad)
* 515mm depth Royal Bathrooms Short Projection Rimless Wall Hung Toilet (check on Amazon.co.uk #Ad)
I noticed short projecting wall toilets tend to be between 480mm to 550mm in depth. This was a surprise, because even with the concealed cistern, it still takes around 500 milometers of spaces. That’s only about 100mm shorter than the normal closed coupled short projection toilets we looked at above. Still they are stylish, contemporary and space saving. So lot of people love them.
